The grunt flails helplessly against the harpy angel's grip as they carry him up into the sky.

  Avean Grunt
No no NO NO!!!
PLEASE!!
I BEG YOU--!!

They flutter over to a tall skinny spire with a rounded platform at the top. It is currently inhabited by three other grunts and a captain. One of the grunts greets her new towerbuddy.

  Avean Grunt
Hey man

  Avean Grunt
Oh. Hey.

The harpy flies off with a satisfied smile, ready to seek new prey.

A fruitless
task.

Isn't it?

The goth angel (last seen stealing doodads from the flight deck) sits in a shadowed nook and calls out to the harpy.

Rescue will
come
for them

in steel chariots

to assert
order
once more.

Your work
undone

As though
it never
was.

So the seas grind the stones.

My laugh rings out nonetheless!

Maybe it echoes
against the cliffs.

But in time
it fades to silence.

The bird's beak will wear away long before the mountain does.

What of the alternative?
A pit with no bottom?

I'd rather the fall
than
the sudden stop.

I'd have thought you'd know by now,
that ash could smell as sweet as flame.

I knew forever once.
It was a spike of cold steel through my guts.

Hah!

A sentiment
unbecoming
of
our kind.

The goth angel sits up and pushes the hair out of their face with a bony arm.

You know
why
I have come.

To extend you
invitation
to a
greater
calling.

One
which befits
an angel
rather than
a magpie.

And you think this wind may lift my wings?

My kin.

We are
building
a grand
machine.

A spiral winding outwards.

The gears may turn!
But without hands to mark the hour
the face is blind.

We may not
see
the purpose
yet.

But
purpose
will find us.

Before
the work
is done.

And what work it will be.

The harpy sassily flutters their wings.

You know they've made a word for me.

"One-Eye," they say.

Only twice, now.
But a third would make a pattern, would it not?

Were you
wiser
you would
be
careful.

A name
is just
another
kind
of binding.

Is that your judgement?

You'd not know silk from chains.

The harpy angel flies away.

I shall see you from the canopy, my kin.

There is still light to catch
before the sun is set.

Lum says:
Hi Feachers! I've been moving lately, and all the chaos of that has depleted my buffer. I'm gonna take a week off to build it back up. I'll see you again on the 17th!

Thanks for your patience everyone~!!
